My Space Babies Ate Me

High Neck Lace Top, Vogue Holiday 2005

I have some Debbie Bliss baby cashmerino I was going to use for a top I’ve since lost interest in knitting. This High Neck Lace Top (Vogue Knitting, Holiday 2005) caught my eye when I was flipping through my knitting magazines in search of a replacement project. I’m not sure about the bobbles around her middle though—they’re rather diseased-looking in an alien-pustules-busting-out-of-my-midriff sort of way. Maybe that’s why the model has a slightly perturbed, faraway look, as if she has retreated deep within herself in response to the psychological torment of popping out extraterrestrial bambinos who will then promptly eat her.

But you know she’s already dead inside, right?

Well, yeah. She’s like totally starving, poor thing. Luckily that deep maroon lipstick gives her a look akin to life…

I kinda like the bobbles - maybe you could do a little moss stitch diamond instead?? What I actually don’t like is the way the contrast between the boobled part and the non-bobbled part kinda makes it look like shes wearing her bra on the outside. But overall I like it because ot’s not the same old same old.

hehehe. i think you’re right. but then, i’m a known bobble-hater. i’d say, do it, but just don’t do the (tedious, spacebaby) bobbles :)
