Hey, don't forget us weavers. We need strong fibers that can take a lot of tension for warp. A while back (before I sold my soul to blogging) I was looking for sustainably grown fibers on the web, considering the niche for organic handwoven scarves at the farmers market. I'll be interested in reading about what you find, even if I never have time for weaving again!

I knit a hat last year using SWTC Karaoke - enjoyed it but found it a bit rough against the skin (50% soysilk/50% wool). Have you looked at kpixie.com? They sell hemp and vegan yarns.

I found it! The seaweed fiber is SeaCell and HandMaiden has a new yarn coming out using it. Knitty.com did a review of the yarn here -> http://knitty.com/blog/2006/01/knitty-yarn-preview-first.html

I can't wait to discover this new realm. And BTW, I love your blog!

Have you tried the Banana Silk yarns yet? There is also another new yarn that comes from some sort of seaweed fiber. It looks absolutely gorgeous but I have yet to find anyone who carries it. I will hunt through my notes and see if I can find the name for you.

Right on. I look forward to your thoughts, and once I see where you're headed, maybe I can contribute. Or at least encourage.
