Round and Round It Goes

It’s amazing how much fun you can have with a stack of old catalogs, glue, and rudimentary paper-folding skills. Even before my bud Juanita generously presented me with a very lovely bowl she made out of magazine paper (original tutorial on Craftster.org), my interest had already been piqued by recycled magazine crafts on Recycled Planet and Uncommon Goods. Paper beads! Pendants! Picture frames! Coasters! (I think I just exhausted my annual ration of exclamation marks there.)
You’ll find another tutorial for a magazine-paper box on Flickr. You can even get creative with your paper coils and stitch them into trivets. Or use them as decorative elements.
The possibilities are making me mad with the power.

Hmmm. Interesting. This idea involves several of my favourite things: potential for displacement activity (I should be reading for my thesis work), recycling, lots and lots of bright colours, and a happy instance of coincidence as someone else mentioned crafster.com to me yesterday. Clearly the stars are in alignment for paper bowls all round! :)
