What Global Warming?

Fox News

Screen cap of Fox News. Oh Cavuto, you ignorant slut.

From Bruce E. Jones in The Modesto Bee:

The political cartoon (Wednesday, Page B-6) showed a man with his “Stop Global Warming” sign standing in the middle of a snow storm. Very cute, but unfortunately it contributes to the continuing ignorance of too many who think “the sky is not falling after all” because we are now suffering a cold snap.

To the contrary. Extreme weather of all kinds, from ice storms to droughts, can result from global warming and its resulting climate change. Note how the two concepts are linked. Legitimate scientists agree the planet is warming. It is also well understood that this alters ocean currents, wind patterns, storm intensities and land temperatures. The result is a variety of unstable and even unpredictable meteorological extremes with serious ecological and economic consequences.

Perpetuation of political indifference and public ignorance is as big a danger to our future as global warming and its resulting climate changes.

(Emphasis is mine.)

Amen, brother. The hubris and pomposity of the ill-informed and the ignorant continue to make me clutch at my head like a stunned monkey. It’s called SCIENCE, children.

Well, as Keith Olbermann has taken to calling Fox, the “Fox NOISE Channel” since they cannot qualify as “news”, I’ve followed suit.

    Two words: CLIMATE CHANGE.

I’ve been attending lectures on this topic recently and even heard a National Park Service officials note: “We use “Climate Change” instead of “Global Warming” because it is both less alamist and more accurate.”

So there. I live near Lake Superior, which is getting to it’s lowest recorded level ALREADY. That is because of reduced rainfall and increased evaporation from warmer temps. I get really tired of people talking about the “floods” that will supposedly happen here when the sea levels rise. Duh. It’s about LOCAL AWARENESS of your regional climate. Some places might even get cooler for various reasons.
