Three Simple Joys

I’ve previously quoted Joe Dominguez’s philosophy that to be frugal means to “have a high joy-to-stuff ratio.”
Here are three simple, practically cost-free things that give me joy:
1. The dreamy palettes of cupcake fondant, whipped up into miniature peaks of pure decadence.
2. When Chekhov crawls under the duvet and flops his little furry self flush against me in bed, purring softly before he tucks his head into his chest and drifts off to sleep; the dull staccato of his heartbeat.
3. A cup of hot (organic, fair-trade) tea while homebound on a rainy day; the rising steam mingling with the faint smell of rain.
What are some of yours?

1. My grandmother’s old quilt - it’s full of holes, faded, and looking at it or being under it has always brought me joy.
2. Watching the progress of clouds moving around the mountains near my home; it’s like an ever changing sky-painting.
3. Having little more to do on a sunny afternoon than settle on the sofa with my dog and a new book from the library.

1. Getting off the bus on Friday evenings, knowing that the love of my life is waiting for me. (We have a commuter relationship for now).
2. Same as your 2., except change the name to Cleo.
3. Having breakfast on the patio on hot summer days, and fluffing up the herbs in the garden before hand so the whole area smells glorious.

1) Reading a good book, while sitting alongside a brook.
2) Awakening to the patter of rain, while lying in bed.
3) Watching children crayon — so sweet and delightful.

1. Morning (so weekend) walks with the dogs, Buckwheat and Dusty, watching them sniff everything and think they can catch the bunnie rabbits.
2. Nights when everyone, dogs, cats, husbands get in on the snuggling on the couch watching anything.
3. Tea in my travel mug going anywhere or nowhere.
